The mission of The Dowsett Foundation Youth Program is to first provide a qualified channel to receive the donation of OC-1, OC-2 and Kayaks. The second objective is to then grant the donated boats to qualified Youth programs.

If you have a functional, seaworthy boat that would be suitable for practicing or racing, we encourage you to donate your boat to the Foundation. We are a non-profit allowing you to deduct all or a portion of the value of the boat. You will determine the value and deduction you are allowed to recognize. The boat must be water tight, functional, ready for use and will be inspected prior to accepting it as a donation.

We then grant boats to deserving youth paddlers with the goal of encouraging our youth to get in the water and paddle a canoe or kayak in a designed program. The mission is to encourage our youth and provide a venue for adults to become good mentors and coaches. If you have or are planning a Youth Program and are in need of boats please fill out the Grant Request form and submit for our review. The key qualifiers are:

• Must have an organized Youth Program
• Exclusively for youth 18 years and under
• Must have a coach(es)
• Availability of boats
